Claire Handler, APN-C

Claire started her education at The Pennsylvania State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004. She worked for nearly 9 years of her nursing career in medical and coronary critical care units across the Tri State area, including at Hershey Medical Center, The Hospital of the University Of Pennsylvania, and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She has cared for some of the most complex critically ill patients with advanced specialty care including kidney, heart and lung transplant patients at one of the largest transplant centers in the region. Claire expanded her professional nursing experience as a clinical research nurse at Columbia University, coordinating stem cell transplant protocols for the pediatric blood and marrow transplantation program. Here she worked from initiation and co- authoring research grants, protocol development, regulatory reporting. She additionally co-authored multiple manuscripts with publications in several different professional journals.

It was through her care for such critically ill patients that she decided to pursue her advanced practice degree to expand her capabilities in her role as a nurse. In 2013 she earned her Master of Science in Nursing in Adult and Geriatrics from Rutgers University and obtained national certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining the practice, Claire worked in the primary care setting as a nurse practitioner.

Claire has served on the nursing practice council for management of nurse driven protocols, as well as professional advancement committees. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and The American Critical Care Nurses Association. She not only is passionate about providing the best care to her patients, but empowering them in management of their chronic diseases through education.
